Samantha Esselman

Product Scientist, 23andMe

In 2017, Sam joined 23andMe as their only Product Scientist on the Ancestry team. Sam works closely with 23andMe’s population geneticists and content writers to craft an engaging (and educational!) product experience for over 10 million customers. In her role at 23andMe, Sam has spoken at genealogy conferences, written and directed 23andMe product videos, and travelled to Kenya with Buzzfeed's "Ladylike" group to explain the science behind haplogroups. She has a PhD in Neuroscience from UCSF, and during her graduate studies she found time to produce science podcasts, captain the UCSF Science Policy team, and serve as a Multimedia Science Communications Coordinator for the BRCA Foundation. Prior to grad school, Sam completed a dual degree in music performance and biology at USC in 2011, graduating summa cum laude as the University's Salutatorian. She was also awarded the Renaissance Scholar prize for graduate studies, along with the "Emma Josephine Bradley Bovard Award" for the highest undergraduate female GPA at USC.


Susan Miller

Sr. Director of Corporate Security, Oracle

Susan Miller is Senior Director of Security Assurance Oversight in Oracle's Global Product Security group. Over the past 30 years Susan held numerous senior leadership roles. She is currently responsible for oversight and reporting of security across all Oracle products and cloud services.

Susan Miller is also a strong advocate of leadership development for emerging professionals within Oracle, demonstrated by her leadership tenure shaping the Oracle Women’s Leadership Communities in Southern California, support of STEM initiatives, and active sponsorship of mentorship opportunities within Oracle.

Susan holds a BSCS, MSCSE and MBA, along with CISSP, CIPT and PMP certifications.


Ilana Golbin

Director, Artificial Intelligence Accelerator, PwC

Ilana is a Director of Artificial Intelligence in PwC Advisory’s Emerging Technologies practice. As an experienced data scientist with a background in renewable energy, Ilana has specialized in applying machine learning and simulation modeling to address client needs across sectors including Financial Services, Automotive, and Entertainment regarding strategic deployment of new services, operational efficiencies, geospatial analytics, and explainability. Ilana currently leads PwC’s efforts globally in the development of cutting-edge approaches to build and deploy Responsible AI including bias detection and correction, AI governance, explanation tools.
